So far China has designated 99 cities as famous historical and cultural cities of national caliber, and placed 75O cultural relics under key protection. There are also 119 national scenic and tourist resorts across the land. Nineteen Chinese sites have appeared on UNESCO's list of world natural and cultural heritage sites. China's venerated history and splendid culture have produced a land pockmarked with cultural relics and treasures.
Day 1-3 Arrival in Beijing/Xian Arrive in Beijing. Fly from Beijing to Xi'an. Tour Xian and visit the old City Wall, Wild Goose Pagoda, the Terra-Cotta Warriors, and the Huanqing Pool.
Fly from Xi'an to Shanghai. Sightseeing features the bustling shopping shopping street of Nanjing Road, and the famous promenade along the Huangpu River, the Bund. Tour the Shanghai Museum, proceed to the Jade Buddha Temple, and then the Children's Palace.
Fly from Shanghai to Guilin. Tour of the Reed Flute Cave and Elephant Trunk Hill. Enjoy a cruisc along the Li River downstream to Yangshuo.
Fly from Guilin to Beijing. Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City & the Temple of Heaven.
Full-day excursion to the Great Wall. Authentic Beijing Roast Duck (Peking Duck) dinner in the evening.
A pedicab tour of the Hutongs, the "old city" neighborhoods of narrow alleyways and courtyard gardens hidden behind Beijing's modern facade. Visit Prince Gong's Palace, the Drum Tower, and old-style courtyard houses still inhabited by Beijing residents. Visit the Summer Palace.
