Day 1 Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to hotel • Visit the Museum of Natural History • Evening tour of Ulaanbaatar city.
Day 2 Gobi/Yol Valley
Fly to the Gobi Desert • Visit the Yol Valley National Park for a trek and opportunity to photograph the stunning landscape • "Gobi Glacier" and wildlife • Visit a camel breeder's camp for photo opportunities, camel riding and discovering the nomadic lifestyle of Mongolians in the Gobi.
Day 3 Flaming Cliffs/Moltsog Els
Day trip to Bayan Zag • the Flaming Cliffs, for exploring the Gobi's Dinosaur Cemetery, and follow the trail of Roy Chapman Andrews • Visit the Moltsog sand dunes.
Day 4-6 Local Naadam
Attend a local Naadam, location will depend on scheduling of festivities by local governors. Possibilities include Karakorum, the Gobi, and other locations in Central Mongolia. In case of a Local Naadam in Karakorum, itinerary will include drive to Karakorum and a visit to Erdene Zuu. one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia.
Day 7-8 Additional Excursions
Depending on the location of the local Naadam. If in Karakorum, visits to Bayangobi and to Hustai Nuruu National Reserve to see Przewalski's horses. If in Ulaanbaatar area, excursion to Manzshir Monastery. The beautiful valley, with its flowing streams and pine and birch forest, dotted with granite boulders, is a perfect place for walking and hiking. Also visit the Bogdo Khaan Winter Palace Museum. Leisure time for shopping.
Day 9-10 National Naadam (11th -12th July)
Attend the National Naadam for two full days, including the opening ceremony, wrestling and archery competitions, and horse races • Attend the closing session for awards ceremonies and to watch the song of praise sung to young racehorses • Tour the tent camp of the horse trainers and watch as they prepare the young riders for races.
Day 11 Gorkhi Terelj National Park
Drive to Terelj, famous for its unique granite rock formations and alpine scenery • Explore the area on foot or on horseback • Return to Ulaanbaatar for evening cultural performance and farewell dinner.
Day 12 Departure
Transfer to the airport or train station for departure.
