Mongols have been celebrating the New Year according to the lunar calendar for more than 2000 years. Each year of the 12-year cycle of the Lunar Calendar is named after one of twelve animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Cock, Dog and Pig.

Today, the Lunar New Year remains the holiday Mongols most look forward to, celebrated as a greeting of Spring, when nature and people are renewed and inspired to take on new challenges and endeavors. At this time, Buddhist monasteries throughout Mongolia are full of people clad in their finest national dress, paying their respects and celebrating a new beginning.

Join us for Tsagaan Sar, and experience Mongolian winter with sports, games, festivals and other cultural events.

Day 1-3 Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar • City exploration excursion • Overnight trip to Hustain Nuruu National Reserve, the home of Przewalski horses.

Day 4-6 Tsagaan Sar Festival
Celebrate Mongolia's Tsagaan Sar Festival with a Mongolian family • Attend sporting and cultural events including the Mongolian National Wrestling tournament.

Day 7 Departure
Transfer to the airport or train station for departure.
